Start a small sunflower seed oil production line ranging from 1-20 TPD.
Oil yield is mainly subjected to the seeds type and extracting method.
Usually the Capacity like 1TPD of production line means to process with 1 ton of Raw Materials (sunflower seeds) per day instead of Finished Product (oil ) capacity.
Complete Sunflower Oil Manfuacturing Process includes Cleaning of seeds, de-hulling, oil pressing, solvent extraction and crude oil refining.
Sunflower oil press is the key process of this sunflower oil production line.
You may have a Question on 'Should Sunflower Seeds be Shelled before Oil Pressing?'
Well. It main depends on the your requirements. Below are the proposal for your reference.
- Oil Extracting with Shell
For small scale sunflower oil production line with capacity less than 20T/D, the seeds can be expelled in oil press with shell. This process is very common in small scale oil extraction workshop or family oil milling business.
- Oil Extracting after Shelling
For industrial scale edible oil mill plant with daily capacity more than 20 tons, sunflower seed dehulling machine is necessary. The main process of fully scale sunflower oil processing plant is shelling, pre-pressing, solvent extraction, oil refining and oil filling. (Extract oil after dehulling can reduce the wax content of final oil.)
Oil Content of Sunflower Seeds (with shell) | Oil Content of Seed Kernel | Protein Content of Seed Kernel | The Shell Content | Wax Content of Seed Shell |
35%~54% | 50%~70% | 21%~31% | Around 22% | 0.4%~10.7% |
There are 2 different method for oil extracting : Cold pressed and Hot pressed ,which end up becoming completely different finished products.
In cold pressing, sunflower seed is extracted to get oil directly , no need frying. The acid value would be relatively low, so oil products are obtained after precipitation and filtration. No need for any refinement. Cold pressing the oil yield is lower and usually with higher sales price. Oil color is light. (higher oil residue rate, extracting 2-3 times)
Hot pressing involves extracting oil at high temperatures, that is to roast seeds before oil extracting. In this way the acid value rises significantly, it loses most of its natural quality. Hot pressed oils are refined to make them fit for consumption. With high oil yield and the oil color would be darker. (Extracting once)
